Miguel at Vibra Hospital

Miguel Perez

After a major medical setback, Miguel Perez turned to Vibra Hospital of Houston for the next step in his recovery.

Miguel had suffered a severe infection that led to sepsis, a major abdominal surgery, and a leg amputation. Though he had been making strides—learning to walk with a new prosthetic limb—his journey was interrupted by septic shock, which sent him back to the hospital for critical care. He was then referred to Vibra Hospital of Houston, a specialty hospital dedicated to helping individuals with medically complex needs regain stability and strength.

At Vibra Hospital, Miguel received coordinated care from a dedicated team of physicians, therapists, nurses, case managers, and wound care specialists. His condition had left him extremely weak and reliant on others for even the most basic tasks, but he never lost his determination.

Through hard work and partnership with his care team, Miguel began to make steady progress. His infection stabilized, his wounds improved, and he regained strength and mobility. He reached key milestones like moving in bed on his own, sitting upright, managing aspects of self-care, and even practicing standing in the parallel bars.

By the end of his stay, Miguel had regained enough strength and independence to transfer to a rehabilitation facility to continue his recovery journey.

Before leaving Vibra Hospital, Miguel shared his heartfelt thanks with the team that helped him reach this point. He was proud of how far he’d come—and so were we!

Thank you, Miguel, for inspiring us with your perseverance. We wish you continued progress and success in your recovery.
